Tournaments: Highlights from Roosevelt
Highlights from Lake Pleasant, June 17
Considering it was mid-June in the Valley of the Sunburned, with eggs frying on pavement around town, most anglers seemed to enjoy the Lake Pleasant event. Several contributed informative reports for Bass Bites. And several didn’t.
On to the Tmx Summary: The winning teams were: (1st Place) Rusty Swan and Joe Edgett, (2nd Place) Manny Madrid and Jeff Beall, (3rd Place) Bill Briggs and Don Worcester, (4th Place) Andy Goettl and Gilbert Muñoz, (5th Place) Charlie Mackintosh and Roger Seibel, and (6th Place) Loway Shammas and Jerry Thompson. You can find out how much they won and read their reports (if they filed them) in the Bass Bites uploaded on the Tmx Results Page referenced above.
In short, 25 Boats and 50 anglers participated in the Lake Pleasant Tmx. With a 3-fish limit, and hours reduced to Safelight until 1100 because of the heat, they weighed in 59 bass and all 59 were released alive. Nice work, guys. Zero mortality is always to be celebrated.
Total Weights ranged from three limits above 8 lb to a couple of skunks. First Big Bass was a sparkling 4.51-lber weighed in by Briggs and Worcester. Second Big Bass was a 3.82-lber weighed in by Ridgway and Peterson. The Big Goon Fish weighed almost as much as the Top five limits of bass: 37.45 lb. I didn’t get a species ID for that monster, but I’m guessing it was a flathead catfish, since it was more than 10-lb heavier than the lake-record striper and most big channel cats are less than half that large.
